Welcome to the world of zines! A creative way to explore art and self-expression all in one little collective space. Zines (pronounced “zeen” like in magazine) are self-published booklets that are a fun and unique way to express any topic.

In this class, students will learn to put together their own art zines. Students will work with different mediums and practice techniques such as drawing, painting, collaging, mark making, lino printing, comic writing, and bookbinding. These finished art projects will become “pages” to put into our final zine projects. Students are encouraged to explore topics and ideas they are personally passionate about for their zines, alongside our class themes.

Supplies to bring

• Pencil, eraser, sharpener

• Old magazine to cut up for collaging (optional)
