Digital Art (Private lesson)

Digital Art (Private lesson)

from 45.00

Learn how to use professional drawing and painting software to create illustrations on the computer from start-to-finish. Whether you're interested in picture books, animation and comics, or you just want to be able to make your own graphics for your projects, having a knowledge of digital art can allow you to create more efficiently, expand your repertoire of tools, and equip you with useful skills for working within the publishing or media industries.

No prior experience with digital art is needed. A basic knowledge of computer operation, and some art fundamentals, is recommended.

My personal expertise is geared towards digital illustration - that is, drawing and painting on the computer. While many of the skills and tools I teach in this class can be transferred to graphic design, that won't be the focus of the class.

These lessons are open to adults, as well as teens over the age of 12.

Software & Equipment

The studio is equipped with a Windows computer and a Wacom Intuos pen tablet. Students can choose to use my equipment, or bring their own.

If you choose to bring your own laptop, you'll need to buy and install illustration or drawing software. My recommendations are FireAlpaca (free for both Windows and Mac), Paint Tool SAI (~$70 after currency conversion, Windows only), and Clip Studio Paint Pro. ($63, Windows, Mac, and iPad). I use these programs in my classes because they are low-cost and intuitive to learn for newbies.

If you have any questions about software, don't hesitate to contact me!

About Me

I'm Janice Liu - I'm a self taught artist who works primarily in digital illustration and comics. I’m the artist & co-creator of the kids’ graphic novel Chicken Soup & Goji Berries 中药鸡汤. I've been teaching myself how to draw on the computer since I was 12, and I personally specialize in a digital watercolour style. Check out my portfolio website to see more.
